Course Placements
After a student completes a language test, they will be placed into a course based on the highest class they completed for a particular language and the score they received on their placement test. Please note that any placement is preliminary and not guaranteed. Students will need to work with their advisor to be officially placed in a foreign language class suitable to their abilities.
If you place out of 1103 please note that you will need to have your score and placement verified before this score is confirmed on your transcript. To have your score VERIFIED please visit: https://cllc.osu.edu/undergraduate/testing for more information.
SPANISH VERIFICATION UPDATE: You will have two weeks from your test date to complete the verification protocol through the Dept. of Spanish and Portuguese. Failure to do so within these two weeks will results in placement into Spanish 1103.
Please note that your placement and EM credit will be invalidated and removed from your transcript if:
- You already have credit for a college level world language course from OSU or another university in the SAME language you are testing; and/or
- You are currently enrolled in a language course in the SAME language for which you are testing
If you meet the criteria above, please contact the CLLC Program Coordinator ( cllc@osu.edu ) to discuss other pathways to test out of or receive credit for existing language knowledge.
